Cass County man sentenced to prison for gun incident in Virginia – WLDS

A Cass County man arrested for weapons possession following an incident in Virginia, Illinois, was sentenced to prison today in Cass County District Court.

Charles C. Hudson, 35, of Virginia, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm as a Class 3 felon. According to court records, the charge was reduced from a Class 2 violent felony to a Class 3 felony during today’s court hearings as part of the plea agreement.

On the evening of May 30thThe Cass County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 211 South Main Street in Virginia, Illinois to locate a man with a gun. Upon arrival, Cass County Sheriff’s officers began their investigation and gathered enough information to obtain a search warrant for the residence. After searching the residence, officers arrested Hudson and charged him with unlawful use of a weapon, possession of firearm ammunition by a felon, and possession of a weapon. Hudson was later also charged with child endangerment.

The remaining charges were dropped according to the plea agreement.

Hudson was sentenced by visiting judge Kevin Tippey to two years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and one year of mandatory supervised release. He was also ordered to pay a $200 fine and court costs. Hudson received credit for 22 days he spent in the Schuyler County Jail.
