San Marcos police search for man who vandalized post office

The suspect is seen kicking a self-service kiosk twice and then kicking the office’s glass door, causing it to shatter.

AUSTIN, Texas – The San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) is asking the public for help in locating a man who was caught on surveillance cameras vandalizing a post office, causing approximately $6,000 in damage.

According to police, the suspect entered the post office on Bugg Lane at around 10.30pm on May 19.

The suspect packaged items and printed labels before attempting to use the parcel box, which appeared to be jammed. After repeatedly attempting to force the box open, he returned to the original self-service kiosk and kicked the monitor twice.

Then he took his packages, went to the front door and kicked it, breaking the glass.

The suspect is described as follows:

  • White man
  • in his twenties
  • Brown hair
  • narrow building

Most recently he wore:

  • a brown baseball cap
  • Glasses
  • a peach-colored polo shirt
  • light shorts
  • White socks
  • grey and white shoes

He drove away from the crime scene in a silver SUV.
