Family of raped and murdered UNIBEN student seeks justice

The family of Glory Adekolure, a student at the University of Benin who was allegedly raped and murdered by yet-to-be-identified persons, has called on the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Four years after the death of a University of Benin student, Vera Omuzuwa Uwaila, who was raped and murdered in a church in Benin City, another 22-year-old chemistry student has been murdered.

Glory Adekolure was last seen on June 13, 2024.

She is said to have gone to the university campus to help her sister who was selling noodles during the university’s matriculation ceremony.

Police spokesman Chidi Nwabuzor said the police have launched an investigation into the case to expose and arrest those behind the crime.

If the police do not do everything in their power to arrest and bring perpetrators to justice, many citizens risk that the state is breeding a deadly group of serial killers.
