Two people were killed and two others were hospitalized after their car collided with several parked cars in Ontario early Saturday morning, June 22, authorities said.

Ontario police were called to the area between Grove Avenue and Sixth Street around 12:20 a.m., where they found four people in a two-door Honda Civic partially pinned under an SUV in the southbound lanes of Grove Avenue, Cpl. Eliseo Guerrero said.

The car was traveling south on Grove Avenue when, for unknown reasons, the driver drifted to the right south of Sixth Street and struck a line of vehicles parked parallel to the sidewalk, Guerrero said.

The corporal said that as of Saturday afternoon, there was no indication that driving under the influence of alcohol or speeding played a role in the accident, but police are still investigating.

The occupants of the car were all adults, but further information about the occupants or where in the car the two dead people were sitting is not yet known, Guerrero said.

The parked vehicles were all unoccupied at the time of the accident, the corporal said.
