16-year-old found dead in car accident in Yuma early this morning

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – According to the Yuma Police Department (YPD), a 16-year-old boy was found dead in a car crash Friday morning; several passengers were injured.

Yuma Police officers responded to a car crash in the area of ​​South 14th Avenue at approximately 3:26 a.m. on June 21.

According to YPD, the boy was driving a Honda Civic at high speed when he lost control and crashed into a wall, two parked cars and a house.

A total of five people were found in the car, including:

  • 16-year-old boy; driver pronounced dead at the scene
  • 18-year-old woman; passenger pronounced dead at the scene of the accident
  • 13-year-old boy; passenger seriously injured
  • 13-year-old girl; passenger seriously injured
  • 12-year-old girl; injured passenger

The injured passengers were taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center, but the 13-year-old boy and girl were later flown to a hospital in Phoenix.

According to YPD, alcohol and speed appeared to have played a role in the accident.
