Massage parlor in Beaumont closed, woman arrested

Police began investigating the massage parlor after receiving several complaints about prostitution in the business.

BEAUMONT, Texas – A 42-year-old woman was arrested Thursday morning after Beaumont police and the city shut down a massage parlor on Walden Road.

According to a Beaumont police news release, the 42-year-old woman was arrested around 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning at Sun Massage at 5750 Walden Road in a shopping center across from the post office.

The woman is being held on prostitution charges at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility, where her bail was set at $500, according to jail records. The charge is a Class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.

Police began investigating the massage parlor after receiving several complaints about prostitution at the business.

Beaumont investigators gathered information supporting the complaints and developed probable cause to arrest the woman, police said.

On Thursday, police officers entered the salon to arrest her.

Following the arrest, fire and building inspectors from the City of Beaumont conducted an inspection of the salon and found enough violations to warrant closure.

The police are continuing their investigation and may make further arrests, the press release said.
