“Hunger Games” actor Donald Sutherland dies at the age of 88

Popular actor Donald Sutherland has died, his son Kiefer Sutherland announced on Thursday.

The Hollywood icon, who became known for her role as President Snow in the film series “The Hunger Games”, was 88 years old.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away,” Kiefer wrote on X. “Personally, I consider him to be one of the most important actors in film history.”

The 57-year-old continued, saying that his late father was “never intimidated by a role, no matter whether it was good, bad or ugly.”

Kiefer continued: “He loved what he did and did what he loved, and you can never ask for more than that. A fulfilled life.”

He made the announcement alongside a black-and-white photo of himself and his father.

Page Six has reached out to Donald’s representative for comment.

Donald shared Kiefer and his twin sister Rachel with his ex-wife Shirley Douglas, whom he was married to from 1966 to 1970.

The Emmy winner also leaves behind his wife Francine Racette and their three sons – Roeg, 50, Rossif, 45, and Angus, 41.
