Teenager arrested after taking photos of credit cards at Georgetown County drive-ins

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) – A teenage fast-food worker has been charged with card fraud in financial transactions in Georgetown County.

A 17-year-old, whose name was not released because of his age, is accused of credit card fraud, said Jason Lesley, spokesman for the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

The teenager, who was employed at both McDonald’s and Dairy Queen in Pawleys Island at the time of the crime, is accused of taking photos of customers’ credit cards while working in the drive-thru and using that information to make his purchases.

Officials began investigating the incident after suspicions of fraud arose at Domino’s Pizza on Pawleys Island, Lesley said.

The teenager also made a purchase at a children’s clothing store in England.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and concluded that the teenager was the suspect.

The teenager has now been released and is awaiting his first court date.

It is unclear whether the teenager is still employed at the company.
