Man Wanted for Sexual Assault on Woman in Markham: Police

Police are searching for a man after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted while walking her dog in Markham.

York Region police said the woman was walking her dog on a trail between Riverwalk Drive and Boswell Road just after 7 p.m. on May 4.

A man approached the woman and asked her to take a photo of her dog. He then asked if he could take a photo of her holding the dog.

“This involved the suspect touching the victim in a sexual manner without her consent,” police said in a news release, adding that the woman fled the scene and contacted police.

Despite a search of the area, the police were unable to locate the man. However, they assume he knows his way around the area since he has already been spotted there.

The suspect is described as male, South Asian, 20 to 30 years old, 1.70 meters tall, with a thin build and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and gray and white shoes. According to police, he may have been holding a can of beer at the time of the incident.
