Rape: 9-year-old girl raped several times by maternal uncle | Surat News

Surat: A 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his nine-year-old niece multiple times over the past four months in Surat’s Bhestan district. Police said the accused, who worked as a mechanic in the auto repair shop, had fled to his native village in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district on June 7. According to the case details, the accused had come to Surat in search of work and was staying with his sister in Bhestan district. Police said the incident came to light when the girl’s elder sister noticed her bleeding last week. She informed her mother, who initially thought that the girl had started menstruating. However, when the bleeding did not stop for a few days, they took her to the New Civil Hospital (NCH) on June 13. Police said the doctors at the NCH, after examining her, informed the family that the girl had been raped. When the police team spoke to the girl in the presence of her family, she told that she had been sexually abused multiple times over the past four months. The girl also told the police that her maternal uncle had threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the rape. Based on the complaint filed by the girl’s parents, the Bhestan police booked her 20-year-old maternal uncle for rape under the Indian Penal Code and various sections of the POCSO Act.
