Alleged accomplice in death of four-year-old arrested and charged with capital crime

JACKSON, MS (WVUE) – Police in Mississippi have announced the arrest of alleged accomplice Victoria Cox on felony charges of sexual abuse.

The capital crime charge in this case suggests a connection to a killing, but the details of the killing and the nature of the involvement remain unclear.

The police chief is scheduled to speak today, but will not make further statements until Monday.

The suspect, Callihan, is being held in the Rankin County Jail east of the city. Police arrested him in a wooded area where they found a 3-year-old boy dead and a 6-year-old boy injured.

They also reportedly discovered cages at the crime scene, raising questions about human trafficking.

Both Cox and Callihan were reportedly questioned for hours. Details of a possible extradition to Tangipahoa Parish are unclear and will be determined by prosecutors.

The Rankin County Sheriff confirmed that officers from Tangipahoa were present to question Callihan.
