Senator John Fetterman and his wife hospitalized after car accident in Maryland

Senator John Fetterman (D-Penn.) and his wife Giselle were hospitalized Sunday after a car accident in Maryland.

According to a Maryland State Police spokesman, Fetterman was driving a Chevrolet Traverse and crashed into the rear of a Chevrolet Impala on Interstate-70 in Hancock. The police department told USA TODAY that the driver of the Impala was also taken to War Memorial Hospital in West Virginia.

No subpoenas have been issued and the investigation is ongoing, the department said.

A spokesman for the senator said in a statement to USA TODAY that the Fettermans were taken to the hospital out of an abundance of caution and John was treated for a bruised shoulder. The office did not provide information on Giselle’s injuries.

The couple was released on Sunday afternoon and are doing well, the spokesman said.

Fetterman posted a video on his account “X” (formerly Twitter) on Monday showing him and his wife at their home in Braddock, Pennsylvania.
