School principal suspended in Bayelsa – Daily Trust

The Bayelsa State Government on Monday suspended Mr. Moses Oguro, the Principal of Community Secondary School, Ikolo, Yenagoa LGA, for dereliction of duty and misconduct.

Daily Trust reports that the Minister of Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, during an inspection of schools in rural areas of the state, announced the suspension of the school headmaster for three months without pay.

A positive development was that the Commissioner automatically offered employment to the Mathematics teacher, Mr Agah Somfieme. Although he was only employed as a temporary staff member, it was found during the visit that he was carrying out his duties conscientiously.

Dr. Emelah directed all teachers who were absent during the inspection to report to the Ministry of Education on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

He criticised this level of neglect as unacceptable, especially since the government had provided adequate accommodation to teachers.
