6 people arrested after police officers confronted a crowd at Woodward Reservoir

Several people were arrested after a large crowd confronted Stanislaus County police officers enforcing parking fees at Woodward Reservoir Sunday night, officials said. A group of up to 80 people gathered shortly after 7 p.m. and “decided to perform our official duties,” a sheriff’s office spokesman said. The spokesman described the people as belligerent. When the group did not comply with orders to disperse, a physical altercation ensued and officers used nonlethal force, officials said. No injuries were reported. Six people were arrested and one juvenile was cited and released to a parent or guardian, officers said. The people arrested face misdemeanor and felony charges, according to officers.
