When an officer arrived at the scene, he discovered that two women, a 48-year-old and her 22-year-old daughter, had been stabbed. One of the victims told officers that she, her daughter and a third woman argued with Carter at the Wawa before he threatened them and said, “I’m going to kill all three of you.”

According to the daughter’s statement, Carter spat in her face, causing her to hit him in self-defense, at which point he went to his car to get his knife.

“One of the victims was stabbed in the jaw, narrowly missing the external carotid artery by 1,” Bayfront Hospital staff told police.

Carter was booked into the Pinellas County Jail and could make his initial appearance Wednesday. He is being held on $250,000 bail.
