Perry Police remind residents to observe road closures on Willis Avenue | Raccoon Valley Radio

A member of the Perry Police Department reminds people to pay attention to street signs given the many construction sites in the area.

Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he has seen many drivers ignoring the road closure signs because construction is being done on Willis Avenue. He says traffic increases especially after hours when he sees people ignoring the signs and driving around them. Vaughn admits he has also seen drivers driving the wrong way on the one-way streets.

“So if you’re trying to get around these road closures, be careful of one-way traffic. We’ve seen a lot of people driving the wrong way over the last few weeks, particularly on Warford (Street) and Lucinda (Street), getting around these closures.”

Vaughn stresses that closure signs must be heeded as there are likely to be road hazards or workers may still be at work, and urges residents to allow sufficient time to travel to their desired destination.
