Porsche crash in Pune: Teenage driver admits to police he was drunk; mother claims: “The doctors advised me to…” | Nation

PTC Newsroom: The 17-year-old teenager who killed two young IT professionals by running them over with his fancy Porsche on May 19 reportedly confessed to Pune police that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.

According to India Today, citing police sources, during questioning, the teenager admitted to officials that he could not remember each episode in detail.

Earlier, it was stated that the teenager had told Pune police that he could not remember anything as he was drunk at the time of the accident during the interrogation that lasted over an hour (11:30 am to 12:30 pm). He was questioned in front of Crime Branch officials, including District Child Welfare Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Police Sunil Tambe, and his mother, who was taken into custody on Saturday.

Despite attempts to extract information from him, the young man remained silent during questioning, authorities told HT.

“Our officers questioned the youth about his whereabouts prior to the collision, his visits to the Blak and Cosie bars, his experience driving the Porsche, details of the collision, tampering with evidence, taking a blood sample and medical examinations.

According to a CID officer, the child had only one answer to every question: he was drunk and could not remember anything. After preliminary investigation, it emerged that the young man and his companions had consumed alcohol in the two bars, resulting in a total bill of Rs 48,000.

The mother of the young driver, who was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of giving her own blood sample instead of that of her son, told police that doctors at Sassoon General Hospital had instructed her to do so, The Times of India reported, citing Pune Police Commissioner (CP) Amitesh Kumar.

“The statement of the woman (49) was recorded. She told us that the doctors at the hospital had instructed her to give her own blood sample instead of giving her son’s blood sample. She pretended not to understand why the doctors had told her this,” Amitesh Kumar is reported to have said in the Times of India.

In a case involving the destruction of evidence, a Pune court on Sunday ordered the boy’s parents to be remanded in police custody until June 5.

The two are being investigated for their possible involvement in altering the minor’s blood sample following the May 19 car accident in Pune, Maharashtra, in which two IT professionals died.

On June 1, Shivani Agarwal, the boy’s mother, was taken into custody after it was found that her blood samples had been switched with those of the boy.

His father, real estate agent Vishal Agrawal, was arrested by the Pune police after he was earlier arrested in a similar incident on suspicion of destruction of evidence. The two were produced by the police before a holiday court in Pune, Maharashtra and their judicial remand was granted till June 5.

The Vishal Agarwal couple planned and destroyed evidence related to the accident, police told the court.

According to authorities, they went to a government hospital and tampered with the minor’s blood samples. Prashant Patil, the couple’s lawyer, said police had already searched their house and found video footage of their facility.

They are accused of concealing evidence of a crime (IPC Section 201), which is a punishable offence and is eligible for bail. Therefore, Patil said, they should be remanded in custody.

In addition to the minor’s parents, Surendra Agarwal, the minor’s grandfather, was also arrested by the police. He is accused, among other things, of kidnapping the family driver and pressuring him to take responsibility for the accident.

Others detained by police for allegedly sharing Mino’s blood samples include two doctors at the state-run Sassoon General Hospital and a staff member.

Three separate cases have been filed by police in connection with the car crash. Two of the three cases are against the bar that allegedly served alcohol and one is related to the accident.

The boy’s father was reported to the police for allowing him to drive the vehicle without a license. In a third example, the family’s driver was wrongfully arrested and forced to take responsibility for the accident.
