Authorities identify man killed by Metrolink train in El Monte

EL MONTE – A 20-year-old pedestrian who was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in El Monte was identified by authorities Thursday.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office identified the pedestrian as Armando Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene, said Michael Pittman, chief of operations for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The death was reported at 10:20 p.m. Sunday in the 12,000 block of Garvey Avenue.

According to the coroner’s office, González’s death was ruled an accident; he died of blunt force trauma.
