Connecticut man reports graze to police after gunshot wound

Police are investigating a shooting in Bridgeport after a man came forward to authorities a day after officers investigated a firearms incident and said he may have been grazed by a bullet.

According to Captain Kevin Gilleran of the Bridgeport Police Department, officers responded to the 100 block of Hollister Avenue at 4:30 a.m. Sunday after receiving a ShotSpotter alert.

Police investigated the scene and collected several pieces of evidence, but no one reported injuries at the time, Gilleran said. The evidence was seized and secured by police.

The next day, just before 5 p.m., Gilleran said, police learned that a 49-year-old Bridgeport man believed he may have been grazed by a bullet during the morning’s shooting. Police met with the man, who said he wanted documentation that he may have been struck by a bullet.

The officers found a small cut on the man’s back. He refused medical treatment.

On Tuesday, the man met with detectives at the police station for further questioning.

Police are still investigating and are asking anyone with information to contact Det. Matthew Goncalves at 203-581-5240. Information can also be left on the Bridgeport Police Tips Line at 203-576-TIPS.
