On Wednesday, Ukraine reported that seven people had been killed in four regions of the war-torn country, while Russia made progress on the front lines where Kiev troops are fighting for survival.

Two people were killed and three injured in a rocket attack on the eastern region of Sumy on the border with Russia on Wednesday, regional authorities said on social media.

The governor of the frontline region of Donetsk, which the Kremlin says belongs to Russia, said three people were killed in separate attacks on Tuesday.

Governor Vadym Filashkin said two people were killed in the city of Toretsk and another person was killed on Tuesday in an attack on the frontline town of Selidove, which is regularly attacked by Russian forces.

In the southern region of Kherson, which the Kremlin says it plans to annex in 2022 even as it continues to fight for control of the Black Sea region, the governor said Russia had shelled residential buildings and infrastructure facilities.

“One person died as a result of Russian aggression,” said Oleksandr Prokudin, the governor of Kherson.

Last weekend, Russian forces carried out one of the deadliest attacks in weeks in the northeastern Kharkiv region, which borders Russia, hitting a busy hardware store.

Prosecutors said on Wednesday that the number of victims of the strike had risen to 19 after a 40-year-old store employee who suffered severe burns in the attack died in hospital.
