85-year-old woman crashes van into Buffalo home

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo police are trying to determine whether an 85-year-old driver had a medical emergency while driving Memorial Day afternoon.

The vehicle, police say, drove through the intersection of East Delavan Avenue and Suffolk Street, entered the parking lot of the Sunoco convenience store and gas station, drove through a fence and landed at a home on Suffolk Street .

The owner, Mohammed Sarwar, said it felt like “an earthquake.”

He was on the couch in his living room and considers himself lucky to be alive.

“A few centimeters higher, I could have been hit in the head and died instantly,” he said.

The house suffered significant exterior and interior damage. All five people in the house are expected to be fine. However, the father is being treated for a leg injury.

“Thank God we’re still alive,” Sarwar told 2 On Your Side.
