Two people arrested in drug trafficking investigation in Berkshire County

BERKSHIRE COUNTY, NY (NEWS10) — Two Berkshire County men were arrested Thursday and Friday following drug trafficking investigations. Michael Caropreso, Becket, 49, and George Stewart, Pittsfield, 44, face charges.

According to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office, Caropreso was in possession of approximately 56 grams of cocaine when he was arrested. Stewart was in possession of approximately 300 grams of cocaine and an illegal firearm when he was arrested.

Caropreso Fees:

• Cocaine trafficking, 36 grams or more, less than 100 grams

Stewart Fees:

• Cocaine trafficking, 200 grams or more
• Weapon ownership
• Improper storage of a firearm
• Possession of ammunition without a FID card
• Violation of the firearms law with three previous violent/drug offenses.

Caropreso is being held on $150,000 bail. Stewart is being held on $250,000 bail. Both were arrested on warrants following a prior investigation.
