Deputies: Motorcyclist killed in Mecosta County accident

CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP, Michigan (WOOD) – Authorities say a motorcyclist was killed in an accident in Mecosta County on Sunday.

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office said the accident occurred around 5 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of 20 Mile Road and 80th Avenue in Chippewa Township west of Barryton.


The sheriff’s office said a 32-year-old Evart man was traveling east on 20 Mile Road when he attempted to avoid a deer lying in the road, causing him to leave the road and crash.

The motorcyclist was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, according to a press release.

The sheriff’s office identified the motorcyclist as Dustin Hyden, 32, of Evart.
