One person dead after shooting in Columbia apartments

According to the Columbia Police Department, police are pursuing promising leads following the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man.

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – Police are pursuing promising leads following the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Investigators say officers arrived at the Colony Apartments shortly before 1:30 a.m. Saturday after receiving a Shotspotter alert. Ballistics evidence was collected at the scene.

According to Columbia police, the male victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The case is being investigated by the Violent Crimes Against Persons Unit.
