Russia attacks Kharkiv for the fourth time today, injuring 12 people, including a 13-year-old child

More details will be added to the story as it develops..

UKRAINE, KHARKIV, May 25 – At 19:10 today, Russia launched its fourth attack on Kharkiv, hitting a “densely populated” residential area in the city center. At least 14 people were injured, including a 13-year-old boy, Kharkiv authorities reported. Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the type of weapon used.

A few hours earlier, at around 4 p.m., the Russians dropped two glide bombs on a hypermarket in a residential area called Saltivka (the Russians had frequently bombed it at the beginning of the large-scale invasion – ed.). The fire that followed the attack spread to 15,000 square meters – rescue workers located it an hour later. At least two people were killed and 35 injured, according to the latest information from Kharkiv authorities.

An hour later, Russia attacked Kharkiv again with a bomb, hitting Kharkiv’s Central Park. No injuries have been reported so far.

During the night, at about 00:40, Russia hit two districts of Kharkiv, damaging a lyceum (an educational institution – editor’s note) and buildings in the industrial zone of the city.

Because of its proximity to the border, Russia frequently attacks Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region. The attacks have intensified since May 10, after Russia began its new offensive in the north and northeast of the region, destroying residential buildings and key infrastructure, killing and injuring civilians.

On May 23, Russia fired at least 15 missiles at Kharkiv and its suburbs. One of these missiles completely destroyed Factor-Druk, one of the largest printing plants in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. That day, Russian attacks on the city and Kharkiv Oblast killed nine people and injured 44, including an 11-year-old child.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his evening speech on May 23 that the only reason Russia could carry out such attacks on Ukrainian cities and people’s lives was because of limitations in Ukraine’s defense. He had previously said that two Patriot systems were necessary to defend Kharkiv and the region.
