Accident on I-65 in Jackson County: Georgia man dies

CROTHERSVILLE, Indiana. – A Georgia man was killed in a car crash on I-65 in southern Jackson County Friday morning, and two passengers were taken to Indianapolis-area hospitals with serious injuries.

The initial investigation by the Indiana State Police (ISP)-Versailles Post indicates that at approximately 10:25 a.m., a pickup truck driven by Jose Uribe, 53, of Winder, Georgia, was traveling north on I-65, near the 43 mile marker between Crothersville and Seymour, in Jackson County. For an unknown reason, his vehicle left the highway, reentered the roadway and overturned before coming to a stop in the northbound lanes.

Uribe suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner. Two passengers in the pickup truck, 53-year-old Carmen Uribe and a 17-year-old woman, were flown to an Indianapolis-area hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The ISP investigation is ongoing and toxicology results are currently pending. The northbound lanes of I-65 were closed for approximately two hours for accident investigation and cleanup.
