FIRST WARNING: Gustier winds on Friday and cooler over the holiday weekend

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) – A low pressure system will move through Friday, bringing gustier winds and cooler temperatures to the desert Southwest.

Skies will be clear to mostly clear and dry, with temperatures remaining slightly lower than normal over the weekend before warming up early next week.

The strongest winds will occur Friday with gusts of 20-35 mph; isolated dust blowing is possible, especially in Imperial County.

Windy weather will prevail throughout Saturday, but the wind will ease on Sunday.

A wind advisory was issued for parts of Imperial County for Friday afternoon.

A First Alert Action Day will come into effect in Imperial County Friday afternoon – Friday night due to gusty and dusty conditions.

The coolest day will be Saturday, with highs mostly between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius, and temperatures will continue to be slightly below normal over the holiday weekend.

Temperatures will rise to around 100 degrees by Memorial Day, with even warmer afternoons and highs near 105 degrees by the middle of next week.
