Viral teacher defends herself after investigation into classroom braid incident | News

The viral teacher who was investigated after a viral TikTok video showed his students taking out his braids during class is now speaking out, claiming that he is subjected to so many attacks because of his good looks.

The teacher, Marquise white, said in a video posted on social media: “I firmly believe that I have been attacked, and I would like to add this, attacked primarily by my own community.” I have been attacked primarily by my own community for the most part. I certainly believe that I was attacked because I am a young, good-looking black man.”

In the social post, White shared a video of white students blinding their white teacher’s head and wondered why that teacher wasn’t “executed” like he was.

White continued his explanation of his good looks. He said: “People who watched this video and thought something strange or suggestive, saw me, were attracted to me. “I have tattoos, I have an attractive energy, (an) attractive aura, you can see that in the video sense. And since you can feel this attractiveness or feeling that you are attracted to me, you have projected your own thoughts, ideologies, traumas and experiences onto me and my children. And that’s a hill I’m willing to die on 1000% of the time.”

It is reported that teachers must “maintain personal boundaries by maintaining adequate space” and “exhibiting appropriate behavior,” according to the school district’s code of conduct. Additionally, teachers are asked not to record students’ faces or voices unless they are teaching a performing arts or professional technology course. White claimed that his students’ parents approved of his TikToks.

White still works as a teacher at Prince George’s Schools but has been removed from teaching pending the outcome of the investigation.
