Best Buffalo Sabers win in March during the 2023/2024 season

Prior to the 2023/2024 regular season, the Buffalo Sabers had beaten every NHL team except one, the Seattle Kraken. In their brief history, the Kraken have never lost to the Sabres. In the first game, Seattle beat the Sabers in Buffalo. They would conclude their season in March, this time in Seattle.

The first period was entertaining to say the least. In the first 20 minutes, a total of five goals were scored. After 24 seconds, Jordan Eberle made it 1-0 for Kraken. Tage Thompson wasted no time, however, as he tied the game 25 seconds later.

A few minutes after Tage’s goal, Jeff Skinner gave Buffalo a 2-1 lead. Thompson got his second point of the night on Alex Tuch’s goal, making it 3-1 for the Sabres. Seattle had a power play and they capitalized through Matty Beniers as the score was 3-2 Buffalo after one period.

After an entertaining opening 20 minutes, Owen Power gave the Sabers their two-goal lead back up 4-2. A little over a minute later, Skinner scored his second goal of the game. In the third period, Jeff scored again, giving him the hat trick, and the Sabers finally beat the Kraken for the first time in franchise history by a final score of 6-2.

With what happened in the first half, I didn’t know what to expect. Especially with the Kraken trailing a one-goal deficit at the start of the second period. But Buffalo didn’t give up its lead and ultimately beat Seattle in its home arena.

As for why this game is my favorite win, it was the first time the Sabers beat the Kraken. It’s always nice to get rid of the first problem. This series will conclude in the next article as I take you through my favorite win from April.
