Video shows man attacking Hasidic children in Brooklyn. Police are looking for attackers

NEW YORK — Two young Hasidic boys were attacked without warning in Brooklyn earlier this week and the entire incident was captured on video.

The police are looking for the attacker.

Video shows attack on two Hasidic boys in Williamsburg

According to police, this happened just before 9 p.m. Sunday in Williamsburg on Franklin Avenue between Willoughby and Myrtle Avenue.

According to police, two boys, ages 11 and 13, were playing on the sidewalk when a man on a bicycle stopped and asked the boys to get off the sidewalk.

Seconds later, for unknown reasons, police said the man brutally attacked one child and then the other, repeatedly kicking and punching them.

According to police, both boys were taken to a local hospital with head injuries. They are expected to be fine.

The attack is now being investigated as a possible hate crime.

“It’s just absolutely terrible. I can’t believe anyone would attack children,” said City Council Member Lincoln Restler. “I am hopeful and confident that they will identify this individual and hold him accountable.”

Jewish hate crimes are on the rise in New York

According to New York City Police Department statistics, Jewish hate crimes are on the rise. There were 86 incidents at this time last year and 131 this year.

Restler says this attack has put the already unsettled Jewish community on even greater alert.

“We have seen a frightening rise in anti-Semitic incidents in our city for years and I am very concerned that we are witnessing one of the most vile and violent incidents in a long time,” he said.
