Car crash on Westheimer Road at METRO bus stop leaves one dead, one seriously injured – Houston Public Media

Houston police officers were still assisting with a traffic stop around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, hours after a motorist crashed into two pedestrians near a METRO bus stop Monday evening, leaving one person dead and another in critical condition. , authorities said.

The Houston Police Department is investigating a crash that occurred around 7:25 p.m. Monday in the 6100 block of Westheimer Road near Briarhurst Drive, where a woman driving a Hyundai Santa Fe struck two pedestrians before crashing into a light pole.

The woman, who showed signs of intoxication, was driving eastbound on Westheimer Road when she failed to stay in one lane and drove onto the sidewalk before striking pedestrians, police said.

One of the pedestrians, a 33-year-old woman, was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. A man in his 40s was in critical condition Tuesday.

The driver was arrested at the scene, authorities said.
