Nampa police arrest second man in connection with February murder

Police arrested a second man in connection with a shooting that killed 21-year-old Fabion Angel Delagarza.

BOISE, Idaho – The Nampa Police Department (NPD) has arrested a second man in connection with the February 2024 shooting death of 21-year-old Fabion Angel Delagarza.

According to the NPD, they arrested 21-year-old Elias Cervantes of Nampa on Monday morning on charges related to Delagarza’s murder. Cervantes is charged with aiding and abetting first-degree murder and two counts of destroying evidence.

Cervantes is the second person arrested in connection with the murder.

On May 8, NPD first arrested 18-year-old Gustavo Sanchez Jr. of Nampa in connection with the murder.

The NPD says it classified Sánchez as a suspect on Wednesday and later arrested him around 5 p.m. Sanchez is charged with aiding and abetting first-degree murder and destruction of evidence.

As the Nampa Police Department (NPD) previously reported, around 1 a.m. on February 10, there were multiple calls from people who had heard gunshots, in addition to calls claiming two people had been shot. Officers responded near 2000 5th Street North and said they found Delagarza and a woman with “apparent gunshot wounds.”

According to police, Delagarza was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was taken to the hospital. Both victims were Nampa residents.

The department said Monday that the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are possible.
