Motorcyclist dead after hit-and-run, police said

According to Milwaukee police, one person was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday evening.

According to police, the accident occurred around 6:40 p.m. Saturday near the corner of 1st and Walker.

A vehicle was traveling eastbound on Walker Street at a high rate of speed when it collided with a motorcycle traveling southbound on 1st Street.

The occupants of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident on foot.

The 31-year-old motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say officers were stopped for a report of a car crash just before the crash near 3rd St. and West Virginia St. There, they observed the vehicle that later struck the motorcycle. Officers then attempted to stop the vehicle at the same location. The vehicle fled and officers did not pursue it.

Milwaukee police continue to search for unknown suspects.
