EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Two people died and seven suffered minor to life-threatening injuries following a serious accident this weekend.

According to police, a silver Nissan Sentra traveling west on Black Horse Pike crossed into oncoming traffic in front of the Oh St. Joseph Resort Hotel in Egg Harbor Township around 8:18 p.m. Friday.

The silver Nissan collided head-on with an eastbound Kia Forte, which was thrown backwards by the impact. A red Nissan Sentra, also traveling east, then collided with the Kia, which was then thrown into the swamp at the side of the road.

Meanwhile, the silver Nissan caught fire after coming to a stop on the eastbound lane.

Good Samaritans rescue accident victims

Bystanders and other drivers who witnessed the horrific accident stopped to help and quickly realized that people were trapped inside the silver Nissan as it burst into flames.

A 25-year-old Pleasantville man was rescued and taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Two juveniles, a man and a woman, were rescued from the vehicle and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Bystander Chris Wilson told 6abc Action News that the boy was screaming for his life from the burning Nissan. Wilson, who pulled the boy from the vehicle, was taken to the hospital with injuries by emergency crews.
