Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carrabba suffers ‘serious’ injuries after motorcycle accident

Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional was in a motorcycle accident that left him with “serious” injuries and months of rehabilitation.

In a statement shared on the band’s Instagram account on Thursday, Carrabba, 45, said the accident occurred on June 6.

“My injuries were serious but not life-threatening,” he said in the statement. “I owe endless gratitude to the amazing doctors, nurses and medical team who treated me. I am determined to make a full recovery, but I face surgeries and months of rehab.”

Carrabba went on to say that he had “not lost sight of current social problems.”

“Even in my condition, I feel it’s important to say that I stand behind Black Lives Matter,” the singer shared. “In the near future, I probably won’t be able to follow the news like I normally do. If you don’t hear from me on critical social issues, I trust you know where I stand.”

Carrabba also thanked the brands Bell Helmets, Biltwell, Rev’it, Alpine Star and Wolverine Boots “for producing the safety equipment that protected me during the accident.”

He also thanked friends and family for “coming together to support me during this time of need” and his fans for their support during his recovery, which he said will be “physically, emotionally and financially difficult.”

On May 29, the band released a statement in response to the death of George Floyd.

“Racism, bigotry and violence are indefensible,” the statement said. “What happens to one happens to everyone. We can and must do better.”

“We have a duty as human beings to stand up for equality and to unite to eradicate the evil that permeates our society,” the statement continued. “George Floyd was killed by an act of brutal and senseless violence.”

On June 2, the band took part in the #TheShowMustBePaused initiative with the goal of holding the music industry accountable.
