Police: One person died after shots were fired at an apartment in north Austin Thursday evening

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are investigating after a shooting at a north Austin apartment complex left one person dead Thursday night.

APD said officers responded to a shooting call at the Canyon Ridge Apartments at Walnut Park Crossing just after 8 p.m


APD said the caller gave life-saving instructions to the caller over the phone until police could arrive. According to APD, officers arrived and performed CPR and other life-saving measures until Austin-Travis County EMS arrived.

The victim was pronounced dead from gunshot wounds at 8:31 p.m., APD said.

The APD did not have any information on a suspect as of Thursday evening, but officers believe there is no further threat to the public.
