Bills are back: Team prepares for 22nd camp at Fisher

The Buffalo Bills are in town as they prepare for training camp at St. John Fisher University in Pittsford.

Preparation for the regular season begins in earnest on Wednesday, the first day of camp. Veteran players reported to the university campus on Tuesday.

Every member of the team must participate in the camp. Players will gradually begin practicing with protection and, after a while, it will resemble a practice you would see during the regular season.

If you go to camp for the first four days, you won’t see any live contact drills. That goes against the rules in the collective bargaining agreement that the league and players agreed to. But players can wear helmets and protective jerseys.

They will wear full protection and perform these two-minute drills in a very realistic manner as the camp progresses.

This is the team’s 22nd camp at Fisher in the last 24 years. They skipped two years because of COVID.

And the players will have plenty of spectators at their disposal. All the free tickets to the camp have been claimed.
