1 dead after accident north of Grand Rapids

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Michigan (WOOD) – Police say one person was killed in a seven-vehicle crash north of Grand Rapids Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Northland Drive and Plainfield Avenue in Plainfield Township.


The Michigan State Police said One vehicle struck several others waiting in the left turn lane. The vehicle at the front of the line was struck from behind and pushed into an oncoming vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle that had struck the others died at the scene of the accident.

Northland Drive was closed between Plainfield and Grand River Drive while emergency crews were on scene. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
