Man arrested for drunk driving after driving his truck into a room at the Red Bluff Inn | News

RED BLUFF, California. – A man was arrested on multiple felony charges after breaking into a room at the Red Bluff Inn, Red Bluff police said.

Around 3:30 p.m., the Red Bluff Police Dispatch Center received several calls reporting an accident at the Red Bluff Inn on Main Street, police said. They were told that the suspect fled the scene after the accident.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the suspect several blocks north of the accident. He was later identified as 25-year-old Ryker Kay of Oregon, police said.

Kay resisted officers as they tried to arrest him and kicked at least one of them, police said.

Police had to use K-9 Max to arrest Kay for safety reasons and because of his resistance, police said. K-9 Max was able to assist the officers and they handcuffed Kay.

Kay was taken to a local hospital for the following reasons:

  • Treatment for the injuries he sustained in the accident
  • Be cleared by a doctor
  • Evaluates whether he is under the influence
  • A minor injury resulting from his arrest

The investigation revealed that Kay was involved in an argument with a woman in the River Park parking lot, police said. Kay then got into his truck, a 2002 Chevy S-10, and drove away from the parking lot, police said.

Kay then drove his Chevy down Main Street, lost control and crashed into the Red Bluff Inn, police said. There was significant damage to two buildings and one person was injured.

The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance to be treated for his injuries, police said. Their injuries came from debris as Kay drove through the room they were in.

This is still an active investigation. But Kay is charged with:

  • Crime under the influence of alcohol causing injury
  • Felony hit and run causing injury
  • Crimes against a peace officer
  • Assault against a peace officer or medical personnel
  • Misdemeanor domestic battery
