Market Street in Greensboro closed due to assault investigation

Residents should be aware that East Market Street in Greensboro is temporarily closed in both directions between Benbow and Dudley Streets. There is no forecast as to when the street will reopen as police investigate a robbery that occurred on Sunday.

At 1:07 a.m. on Sunday, Greensboro police were called to a reported robbery at Laurel Street and East Market Street. When they arrived at the scene, officers said they found a gunshot victim. According to officers, the victim had serious injuries and was taken to the hospital by EMS.

According to investigators, there is currently no information on the suspect and the manhunt is ongoing.
