Cleveland woman dies in SUV skid during heavy rain

The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate a fatal three-vehicle crash that occurred west of Cleveland Thursday afternoon that left a Cleveland woman dead. Full details have not been released by the GSP, but White County Coroner Rick Barrett has identified the deceased woman as 34-year-old Bailey Gabler of Cleveland.

Captain Michael Burns, spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol, said Friday morning they could only release preliminary details about the accident, which was reported at 5:49 p.m. on Georgia 115 at Ed Lewis Road in White County.

The preliminary report from the investigating officer states that a Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling west on GA 115 in heavy rain when the vehicle skidded and began to rotate. The Jeep was struck on the driver’s side by a Porsche Macan. The impact caused the Porsche to roll backwards and hit a Ram 1500 truck.

Burns said the driver of the Jeep, now identified as Gabler, was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

According to Captain Burns, full details, including the names of those involved, are not available and the accident remains under investigation.
