FIRST ALARM ACTION DAY: Tracking excessive heat through Sunday with light humidity

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY-TV) – Widespread extreme heat is back in the region, and it will continue thanks to another strong high pressure system.

A First alarm action day of the weather authority is in effect until Sunday due to severe heat risks and dangerous temperatures in the desert southwest.

A WARNING of excessive heat is NOW applies to both Yuma and Imperial Counties.

This heat warning remains in effect for Yuma County until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, but will not expire in Imperial County until 8:00 p.m. Sunday.

This weekend will be a little drier than we experienced this week, but certainly not as dry as usual.

The dew point remains between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius, but it is particularly humid in the mornings and at night.

The afternoons will be quite hot with highs in the single digits and the lows at night will also be quite warm. Therefore, the so-called First Alert Action Days will be in effect.

Another wave of moisture will bring higher humidity and a higher chance of rain early next week.
