Fatal accident in Bellefontaine Neighbors leaves one dead and two injured

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Missouri – One person is dead and two others injured after a serious accident Friday night in Bellefontaine Neighbors.

Investigators report that a head-on collision occurred early Friday morning on Route 367 between Interstate 270 and Chambers Road. Both vehicles involved in the accident sustained significant damage.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were taken to hospital with injuries that authorities described as life-threatening.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation. Corporal Dallas Thompson of the patrol says the 911 call came in shortly after 3 a.m. Friday morning.

Thompson says the driver of a black vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The car’s passenger was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of a brown vehicle was also taken to hospital.

So far, neither the names nor the ages of those involved in the accident have been released. There are also no details about the exact cause of the accident.

There are no barriers or anything similar in this area that would prevent a vehicle from crossing the center line and continuing into oncoming traffic.
