(KRON) – An East Palo Alto man who allegedly sent threatening texts and photo messages to his ex-girlfriend was arrested Wednesday, according to Redwood City police. Authorities seized illegally possessed firearms and marijuana from the man’s home.

On Saturday, Redwood City Police officers began investigating 47-year-old Jose PadillaHernandez in connection with criminal threats that were allegedly sent via text message to his ex-girlfriend. The messages included a picture of PadillaHernandez holding a handgun, police said.

Investigators learned where PadillaHernandez lived and a search warrant was executed Wednesday at his East Palo Alto residence. Authorities said police found four handguns, ammunition and about 4 pounds of marijuana inside the home. One of the four handguns was the weapon seen in the text message image, Redwood City police said.

PadillaHernandez was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail on a charge of criminal threats. Authorities say charges for illegal possession of firearms and marijuana are pending.
