3 Braves players selected for MLB All-Star Game

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Three Atlanta Braves players have been selected to this year’s MLB All-Star Game.

Chris Sale, Reynaldo Lopez and Marcell Ozuna have been named as replacements for the July 16 game, the Braves announced Sunday night. Sale and Lopez will join the National League pitching staff, and Ozuna has been named the designated hitter.

“Our representatives in Arlington!” The Braves posted on X“Congratulations to Reynaldo, Marcell and Chris on their selection to the 2024 All-Star Game.”

Sale earned his eighth All-Star selection, the first for the 36-year-old left-hander since seven straight selections from 2012-18. It’s the longest gap for an All-Star Game since Albert Pujols earned his 11th selection in his final season in 2022, his first since 2015.

“It’s really satisfying. I really appreciate it,” said Sale, acquired by the Boston Braves in December. “They took a risk and I’m happy to be able to do that for them.”

This year will be Ozuna’s third All-Star appearance and López’s first.
