Deontaye Hamer, 18, was taken into custody on May 7 on rape charges^Th. Officers responded to a North 7^Th Street apartment for sexual assault. They spoke with the 13-year-old victim, who stated during their interview that her stepbrother Hamer had entered her room. She stated that he began rubbing her back and eventually tried to put his hands down her pants. Then, she said, he turned off the lights, bent her over the bed and pulled down her shorts while he licked her vagina and began penetrating her with his fingers. She said she told him to stop, but he held her down and then forcibly penetrated her with his penis. She said she didn’t think his penis was all the way in, but reiterated that he had indeed inserted it into her vagina. She then said he rubbed it on her back before receiving a phone call and leaving the room. Officers interviewed Hamer, and under Miranda, he admitted to having sexual contact with her, adding that it was mutual and that he only penetrated her with his fingers and not his penis. Hamer was subsequently arrested over the incident.

Deontaye L. Hamer was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on May 7 on a rape charge. A judicial commissioner set his bail at $25,000.
