Man dead after fiery crash involving multiple vehicles on Massachusetts highway, police say

A fiery three-vehicle crash involving two trucks left one person dead and a second person injured on a Massachusetts highway Tuesday afternoon. First responders and state police troopers rushed to the scene of the crash on the westbound side of Interstate 195 in Seekonk, Massachusetts, around 1:20 p.m. Video from Sky 5 showed a white sheet covering part of what appeared to be a burned-out vehicle in front of a box truck. State police said the exact cause and circumstances of the crash were under investigation. According to state police, a 36-year-old Springfield man driving a 2022 Toyota Highlander was killed in the crash. Police said a 45-year-old North Easton man driving the box truck was taken to an area hospital with what authorities said were minor injuries. Police said the person behind the wheel of a third vehicle involved in the crash, a tractor-trailer driven by a 31-year-old Florida man, was not injured. Photos from the scene showed the front of the van burning. The photos showed skid marks from the center lane to the right shoulder. Video from Sky 5 showed debris from the crash scattered across the lanes. State police did not release specific information about how the crash occurred. All westbound lanes of Interstate 195 were closed for some time Tuesday afternoon while crash investigators worked at the scene.

A video from Sky 5 showed a white cloth covering part of an apparently burnt-out vehicle in front of a van.

State police said the exact cause and circumstances of the accident are currently under investigation.

According to state police, a 36-year-old Springfield man driving a 2022 Toyota Highlander was killed in the accident.

Police said a 45-year-old North Easton man who was driving the van was taken to an area hospital with what authorities said were minor injuries.

Police said the driver of the third vehicle involved in the crash, a tractor-trailer driven by a 31-year-old Florida man, was not injured.

Photos from the crime scene showed the front of the van was on fire. The photos showed skid marks from the middle lane to the right shoulder.

A video from Sky 5 showed debris from the accident scattered across the road.
