Waupun man faces multiple charges after domestic incident

(Waupun) A Waupun man is facing numerous charges following a domestic incident. City police responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on East Franklin Street around 11:55 p.m. Wednesday.

The male suspect had left the scene prior to police arrival and was reported at a residence on North Division Street. When police arrived, they learned that the man had once again fled the area and later returned to his original address on East Franklin Street.

The suspect refused to comply with orders to leave the home, and Waupun Police called the Fond du Lac County SWAT team for assistance. During negotiations, two residents managed to exit the home safely. The 31-year-old suspect later exited the home and was taken into custody at approximately 5:26 a.m. Thursday morning.

Charges of false imprisonment, assault, choking and strangulation, domestic disturbance and resisting an officer will be forwarded to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities say this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
