Palestinians believe several people were killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza City

Seven people were killed in Israeli army attacks on targets in Gaza City, Hamas-controlled civil defense forces said on Thursday.

Dozens of other Palestinians were injured in the bombing of the Shejaiya neighborhood, it said. Palestinian media reported heavy attacks on the area.

The information could not be independently verified.

When asked, the Israeli army said it could not confirm the information.

The army had previously ordered residents of several Gaza City neighborhoods to leave the city, which is usually a sign of impending new Israeli military operations in the area.

All residents and displaced persons were called upon to immediately leave the districts of Shejaiya, al-Turkuman and Tuffah and move to an area designated as a “humanitarian zone” in the south of the coastal region, according to an appeal published in Arabic on Thursday by an Israeli military spokesman.

According to the health authority controlled by the Palestinian Islamist Hamas movement, at least 37,765 people have been killed and another 86,429 injured in the Gaza Strip since the war began. The figures do not distinguish between civilians and combatants and cannot be independently verified.

The war was triggered by the October 7 massacre in Israel, in which Hamas terrorists and other groups killed over 1,200 people.
