Boone faces charges including first-degree burglary and criminal use of a firearm, a total of five felonies. Pittman faces one felony count of third-degree weapons possession and two misdemeanors.

The incident began just after 1 p.m. Tuesday when officers responded to the 900 block of Crane Street after a report of a physical fight between a man and a woman, police said.

According to the allegations, a gun was displayed and possibly fired, a shovel was used as a weapon and a baby was present, police said.

Officers searched for the suspects and found Pittman around 2:31 p.m. She was arrested and taken to police headquarters while the search for the man continued, police said.

Police said the child was present at the first incident. A news release did not say where the child was as the incident unfolded, but police said Wednesday that the child was safe.

Officers soon learned that the man had broken into a neighboring apartment through a window while trying to escape, police said.

The search continued until about 9:41 p.m., when members of the department’s SWAT team found the man in an area between buildings, police said.

The man, identified as Boone, was taken into custody without further incident, police said. Police said a loaded Ruger handgun was also found during the search.

Boone is also charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree reckless endangerment and fourth-degree possession of stolen property. He is also charged with threats, child endangerment and criminal coercion.

Pittman is also charged with child endangerment and menacing.

City police were assisted by the department’s drone unit, the New York State Police, the Schenectady Street Crimes Task Force, the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office and the Niskayuna Police Department.
